Baseball Recap: Durango Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

There's no place like home for Durango, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Valencia Jaguars on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Demons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Durango got a great performance from Jack Englund as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Englund has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dylan Burns, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Landin Padilla was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Durango's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-3. As for Valencia, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-7.

Durango will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Montezuma-Cortez at 3:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Valencia, they will be taking part in a tournament against Dolores at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
