Basketball Recap: Marysville Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

On Tuesday, the Marysville Monarchs earned a 62-52 win over the Teays Valley Vikings. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Vikings are ranked 529th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Marysville and bumps their season record up to 11-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points over those games. As for Teays Valley, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marysville will head out to take on Olentangy Berlin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Teays Valley, they will face off against Pickerington Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
