Football Recap: Alijah Jablon Key Part of Team Effort in Maroons Win

There's no place like home for Austin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on the Akins Eagles with a sharp 33-7 win on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Maroons also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Austin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alijah Jablon led the charge by rushing for 80 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, while also throwing for 117 yards and one TD on only nine passes. Those 80 rushing yards gave Jablon a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Caleb DeLeon, who rushed for 80 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Austin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Austin's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Akins, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3.

Coincidentally, Austin and Akins will both be playing Bowie the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Maroons will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st.
