Basketball Recap: New Covenant Takes a Loss

New Covenant lost against Virginia Episcopal School back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The New Covenant Gryphons took a blow against the Virginia Episcopal School Bishops, falling 58-19. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Gryphons have suffered since December 12, 2024.

Jocelyn Walker was New Covenant's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Ellie Jacobs took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

It was another big night for Sasha Brody, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals for Virginia Episcopal School. Brody has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Mia Wolfe was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds.

New Covenant's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6. As for Virginia Episcopal School, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

New Covenant will be playing in front of their home fans against Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Virginia Episcopal School, they are taking a road trip to challenge Roanoke Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Virginia Episcopal School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.
