Recap: United Faith Christian Academy Falcons vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls
If the United Faith Christian Academy Falcons were feeling good off their 74-32 takedown of the Lab University Prep Lab Rats on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. United Faith Christian Academy fell just short of Hickory Ridge by a score of 51-49. While losing is never fun, United Faith Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Hickory Ridge is ranked 50th).
Hickory Ridge found their leader in underclassman Ma-kaela Gidney, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The contest was Gidney's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sheree Gidney, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
United Faith Christian Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Hickory Ridge, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. United Faith Christian Academy will take on Word of God Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hickory Ridge is on the road again on Wednesday and play against A.L. Brown at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd.
