Softball Recap: Pasco Comes Up Short

Pasco was the 14-1 winner over Lake Minneola when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Pasco came up short against Lake Minneola on Monday, falling 15-4.

Abigail Grubbs was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Grubbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Montelongo, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Montelongo also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another was Sophia Torres, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Pasco's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Lake Minneola, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pasco will welcome Academy at the Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pasco's pitchers better be ready for this one: Academy at the Lakes has averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Lake Minneola, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Cornerstone Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. Cornerstone Charter Academy will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Lake Minneola surely won't give up without a fight.
