Recap: Covenant Christian Academy vs. Newport Buffaloes
Covenant Christian Academy lost against the Newport Buffaloes back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Covenant Christian Academy ended up on the wrong side of a rough 51-28 walloping at the hands of Newport. Covenant Christian Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newport to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ruben Moreno, who scored 11 points along with five steals. Moreno is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Zaring, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Covenant Christian Academy bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Newport, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.
Covenant Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Juniata Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Newport won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Millersburg at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Millersburg is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
