Basketball Recap: Center Grove Skates Past Roncalli with Ease

Center Grove extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping them up to 6-0. They claimed a resounding 56-23 win over the Roncalli Royals. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 32 points or more this season.

Gracyn Gilliard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 12-for-16 on her way to 28 points and six steals. Her big performance that evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Haley Wagoner, who shot 71% from the field en route to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Center Grove was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Roncalli fell to 5-1. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with Center Grove: they've now lost five in a row.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lola Morelli, who posted six points. Thanks to that strong game, Morelli now owns an excellent 45.5% field goal percentage.

Coming up, Center Grove will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Franklin Community at 6:00 p.m. As for Roncalli, they will venture away from home to take on Whiteland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
