5A Continental recap September 4, 2013
Douglas County's Trey Smith rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Continental this season in his game against Fruita Monument last week. Smith's team defeated the Wildcats as he sprinted for 86 yards on the play and finished with 191 in all.
Fans got a thrill when Keaton Thames and Eric Dynes connected against Rock Canyon. The connection went for 74 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Highlands Ranch's dynamic duo of Thames and Dynes proved tough for the Jaguars to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thames threw for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns and Dynes had 97 yards receiving. Colton Hogy helped Highlands Ranch's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 27 yards.
The Falcons' dynamic duo of Thames and Dynes proved to be unstoppable against Rock Canyon, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Smith provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Douglas County topped Fruita Monument. Smith's favorite target this week was Smith, who caught 2 passes for 73 yards.

Jeff Ketron's team was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in the league. The Huskies vanquished Sean Mulvey's team 47-19 earlier in the week.
