Softball Recap: Chaparral Now 9-3 over Last 12 Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Notre Dame Prep, Chaparral was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the McClintock Chargers 9-2. The Firebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Amelia Baum was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had over her last seven games. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaelyn Moffitt, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Bria Belden was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Chaparral is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for McClintock and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Chaparral will head out on the road to take on Arizona College Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McClintock, they will be playing at home against Alhambra at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
