Recap: Clymer Central Pirates vs. Cassadaga Valley Cougars
It was a good run, but the Clymer Central Pirates unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell to Cassadaga Valley 63-58. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Clymer Central came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Cassadaga Valley is ranked 317th).
Despite the loss, Clymer Central still got an impressive performance from Alexys Neckers, who scored 33 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Neckers is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ava Nyweide was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Clymer Central's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2. As for Cassadaga Valley, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clymer Central will face off against Chautauqua Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chautauqua Lake is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Cassadaga Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Gowanda at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
