Softball Recap: Wolcott RVT Has No Trouble Against Bullard-Havens

It was a proper cat-fight when Wolcott RVT challenged Bullard-Havens on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 26-13 margin over the Tigers. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Emma Archer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and ten unearned) runs off 17 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Brooke Curtis was a standout: she fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Schaer, who got on base in five of her seven plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

Wolcott RVT always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Wolcott RVT's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Bullard-Havens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wolcott RVT will host Bassick at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bullard-Havens, they will welcome Wilcox RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
