Flag Football Recap: Los Alamitos Takes a Loss

Los Alamitos extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 6-9. They took a blow against the Huntington Beach Oilers, falling 34-0. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Griffins, who until this contest were averaging 13.2 points allowed.

Even if they lost, Los Alamitos' defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Olivia Quick refused to say out of the backfield, picking up four sacks all by herself.

As for Huntington Beach, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 20-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.1 points on average over those games.

Roxie Shaia continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 180 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of her passes. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times she's played. Shelby Nguyen got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Los Alamitos has already played their next matchup, a 27-6 win against Marina on the 8th. As for Huntington Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-21 victory against San Marcos on the 8th.
