Softball Recap: Union County Takes Down Murray County in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Union County had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Murray County Indians get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Union County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Murray County, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-18.

Looking ahead, Union County will venture away from home to take on Sonoraville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 2.6, the Phoenix 1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Murray County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
