Basketball Recap: IDEA Riverview Takes a Loss

IDEA Riverview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Lyford Bulldogs, falling 60-29. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-27 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, IDEA Riverview saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Oziel Escobedo posted 12 points. That was a full 41.4% of IDEA Riverview's points, marking the third time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

IDEA Riverview's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Lyford, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.

IDEA Riverview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-31 victory against IDEA Robindale on the 17th. Lyford has also already played their next game, a 53-49 win against Rio Hondo on the 17th.
