Baseball Game Preview: Belmont Red Raiders vs. Derryfield Cougars

The Belmont Red Raiders will take on the Derryfield Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Belmont will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Kearsarge on Friday. The Red Raiders blew past the Cougars 17-5. The win continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Derryfield put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Somersworth with a sharp 7-1 victory. Fans of the Cougars have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Keith Townsend was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Willett, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
