Preview: Southington Blue Knights vs. Northwest Catholic Lions

The Southington Blue Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Northwest Catholic Lions at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Southington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, Southington slipped by Simsbury 43-42. The victory was all the more spectacular given Southington's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Simsbury is ranked first).

Southington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Cooper, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bethany Borges, who scored seven points along with two blocks.

Meanwhile, Northwest Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Immaculate by a score of 42-40. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Northwest Catholic has scored all season.

Southington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Northwest Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4.

Southington came up short against Northwest Catholic in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 51-40. Can Southington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
