Kennedale extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 6-3. They took their game with ease, bagging a 41-14 win over the Lake Worth Bullfrogs. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 26 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Riley Bingham, who rushed for 270 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Kennedale: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget George Hunt, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Kennedale didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Lake Worth to a completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Bingham, Kevonte Johnson, and Landon Watkins, who each logged one passes deflected. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Kennedale; they were averaging 61.5%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 61.5%.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Kennedale, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Hunt, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
As for Lake Worth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 690th, while Kennedale is ranked 284th).
Despite the loss, Lake Worth still got an impressive performance from Lucas Davis, who threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 39 yards.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kennedale is set to take on their familiar foe Alvarado at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Bingham and Demarcus Belton. Meanwhile, Lake Worth will challenge rival Ranchview at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
