Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Christian Eagles vs. Coastal Brigade

The Wayne Christian Eagles will square off against Coastal Brigade at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wayne Christian is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Wayne Christian opened the new year with a less-than-successful 59-48 loss to North Duplin.

Wayne Christian's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jalen Watkins, who posted 15 points. Spencer Sparrow was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coastal Brigade). They simply couldn't be stopped back in December of 2024 as they easily beat Varsity Opponent 72-36. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-13.

Coastal Brigade found their leader in freshman Luke Bledsoe, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 21 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Harris, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Coastal Brigade's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Wayne Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
