Recap: Union City Chargers vs. Bronson Vikings
The Union City Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 74-52 walloping at the hands of Bronson. While losing is never fun, Union City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 612th, while Bronson is ranked 180th).
Union City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ellie Williams, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Jordan Chard was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Even though they lost, Union City were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Aubree Calloway was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 17 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists for Bronson. It was the first time this season that Calloway posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Harris, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Union City's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Bronson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Reading the next time they take the court. Union City will host Reading at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Bronson will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
