Basketball Game Preview: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans vs. Rancho Solano Prep Mustangs

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy has gone 5-0 against Rancho Solano Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans will be home for the holidays to greet the Rancho Solano Prep Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since January 29th on Monday. They breezed by Heritage Academy to the tune of 56-13. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Heroes are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Maeve Morgan, who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, nine boards, and nine steals. That's the most boards she has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Wolf, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage Academy only posted two assists.

Meanwhile, Rancho Solano Prep waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 51-35 win over the Titans.

Rancho Solano Prep pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.2 points per game. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Rancho Solano Prep in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 41-35 victory.
