Volleyball Recap: Encinal Jets vs. Piedmont Highlanders
Encinal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Piedmont Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.
The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Piedmont scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 18-25, 25-21, 25-21.
Piedmont found their leader in sophomore Olivia Stevens, who had 19 digs and six assists. Stevens has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 13 times she's played.
Encinal's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Piedmont, their victory ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 9-9.
Encinal didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against St. Joseph Notre Dame on the 17th. As for Piedmont, they will host Castro Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
