Volleyball Recap: Fort Walton Beach Vikings vs. Choctawhatchee Indians

Fort Walton Beach lost against Choctawhatchee back in August and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Vikings fell just short of the Indians by a score of 3-2. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Fort Walton Beach took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-10, 20-25, 25-18, 15-11.

Mya Divens paced Fort Walton Beach's offense, picking up 19 kills. Divens got some help from Adelle Howsden and her 22 assists. Triniti Carswell controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Choctawhatchee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Thigpen, who had 21 assists and 11 digs. Thigpen has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more assists the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Deal, who had six digs and three aces.

Fort Walton Beach's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Choctawhatchee, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-12.

Fort Walton Beach didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Arnold on the 7th. As for Choctawhatchee, they will square off against Niceville at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
