Baseball Game Preview: Torrance Tartars vs. Arcadia Apaches

The Torrance Tartars will venture away from home to face off against the Arcadia Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Torrance has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Arcadia will arrive with three straight victories.

Torrance is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 29, 2024 on Saturday. They lost 13-7 to El Segundo.

Torrance saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mateo Rickman, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Hector Chavez was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Arcadia got themselves on the board against Glendale on Friday, but Glendale never followed suit. They blew past the Nitros 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Apaches, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Gus Cooper looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tarik Reese was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keyonn Chatman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Arcadia hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Arcadia's record is now 16-2. As for Torrance, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
