Soccer Game Preview: George Washington Prep vs. Hawkins

The George Washington Prep Generals will take on the Hawkins Hawks at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

George Washington Prep's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Dymally 5-0. It was an even better day for Sofia Esquinxa as she scored three goals for her team.

George Washington Prep was without their leading scorer, Mareli Doroteo, in Friday's match. With Doroteo sidelined, George Washington Prep had to make some changes to the lineup. Jaqueline Corrales played for 60 minutes having averaged 36.7 this season. She made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Hawkins played in conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they we're looking for. Everything went their way against Crenshaw as Hawkins made off with a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won three contests by three goals or more so far this season.

George Washington Prep is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those seven matches. As for Hawkins, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
