Soccer Preview: Horizon vs. Fairview
Horizon is 0-9 against Fairview since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Hawks will face off against the Knights at 6:30 p.m. Horizon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.
Horizon managed to keep up with Erie until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Hawks lost 4-1 to the Tigers. Madison McLachlan was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on her (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.
Horizon's goal came courtesy of Mia Kresnik, who's now up to two this season.
Meanwhile, Fairview kept a clean sheet against Monarch on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over the Coyotes. Fairview might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by three goals or more this season.
Fairview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those seven contests. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3-2.
Horizon couldn't quite get it done against Fairview in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
