Volleyball Game Preview: East Greenwich Avengers vs. Barrington Eagles

After both having extra time off, the East Greenwich Avengers and the Barrington Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Greenwich will be strutting in after a victory while Barrington will be coming in after a loss.

East Greenwich is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Chariho, who was ranked sixth at the time (East Greenwich was ranked 16th). The Avengers won by a set and slipped past the Chargers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Avengers have posted against the Chargers since April 14, 2022.

East Greenwich got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. The final score came out to 21-25, 28-26, 31-29, 17-25, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Barrington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to La Salle Academy.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-23, 25-22.

Barrington's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for East Greenwich, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Everything went East Greenwich's way against Barrington when the teams last played back in April, as East Greenwich made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Avengers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
