Boone County hasn't had much luck against Highlands recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Rebels will challenge the Bluebirds at 11:00 a.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Boone County will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Conner, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rebels walked away with an 11-7 win over the Cougars on Wednesday.
Ayden Kays looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, Ethan Rossi was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mason Coughenour, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, while Highlands put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Bellevue. The Bluebirds were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Bluebirds, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Patrick Davidson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Highlands let Adam Forton and Nolan Schwalbach run wild. Forton went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Schwalbach went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Forton has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Iain Carner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.
Highlands is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Boone County, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.
Boone County suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Highlands in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
