Tanner Gray had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 103 yards and four touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayton Meglen, who rushed for 68 yards and one TD.
Wellington didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Resurrection Christian to a completion percentage of just 40%. The team can thank Tyler Shaffer for the heroic effort on defense: he. Wellington wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The Classical Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Kent Denver 49-48. The win almost wasn't to be: the Titans were down 35-21 in the third quarter.
Wellington better keep an eye on Jackson Schipfer. He was instrumental in The Classical Academy's win, rushing for 234 yards and three scores. Schipfer has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Braden Godoy was in the mix too, providing The Classical Academy with two touchdowns.
Wellington's record now sits at 11-0. As for The Classical Academy, their record is now an identical 11-0.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wellington has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 283.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like The Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 181.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Wellington came up short against The Classical Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 42-36. Thankfully for the Eagles, Andrew Brown (who threw for 264 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 156 yards and one score while picking up 7.4 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
