Soccer Game Preview: Highlands Christian vs. Avant Garde Academy

The Highlands Christian Knights will face off against the Avant Garde Academy Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Highlands Christian's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Highlands Christian and Berean Christian, and Berean Christian kept the tradition alive. The Knights fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Avant Garde Academy kept a clean sheet against Horeb Christian on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Mustangs. Avant Garde Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by four goals or more this season.

Avant Garde Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those four matchups. As for Highlands Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Everything went Highlands Christian's way against Avant Garde Academy in their previous meeting back in January, as Highlands Christian made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Sharks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
