Volleyball Recap: Gabby Mattison Key Part of Team Effort in Falcons Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only South Central walked away with it. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Heritage Huskies on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2021.

If you add up the scores from across all four sets (92-87) South Central actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 12-25, 25-23, 25-22.

South Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabby Mattison, who had 27 assists and 13 digs. That's the most digs Mattison has posted over her last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaibryn Staton, who had 16 digs.

South Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. As for Heritage, their defeat ended a 12-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-8.

South Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against D.H. Conley on the 23rd. Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
