Preview: Astoria/VIT Rebels vs. Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans

Astoria/VIT has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Astoria/VIT came up short against Macomb and fell 41-29. While losing is never fun, Astoria/VIT can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 569th, while Macomb is ranked 212th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was KATE STAMBAUGH, who scored seven points along with two steals. DIXIE CHENOWITH was another key contributor, scoring five points.

Meanwhile, Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 38-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly.

Astoria/VIT bumped their record down to 4-18 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

Astoria/VIT strolled past Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 42-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Astoria/VIT since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
