Football Game Preview: Mashpee Falcons vs. Cohasset Skippers

The Mashpee Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the Cohasset Skippers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Mashpee was fully in charge, breezing past Hull 35-7. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Pirates are ranked 260th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cohasset's matchup last Friday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. They put the hurt on Carver with a sharp 49-24 victory. The Skippers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Mashpee better keep an eye on Gus Greene. He was instrumental in Cohasset's win, rushing for 160 yards and four TDs on only 13 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Greene a new career-high. Max Monahan did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 94 receiving yards.

Cohasset was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Cohasset's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.7 points over those games. As for Mashpee, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Mashpee took their victory against Cohasset when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 28-6 score. In that matchup, the Falcons amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
