Basketball Game Preview: Lutheran Northwest Crusaders vs. Oakland Christian Lancers

Having just played yesterday, the Lutheran Northwest Crusaders will get right back to it and host the Oakland Christian Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Lutheran Northwest took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Clawson 57-34. That looming 57-34 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Crusaders yet this season.

Lutheran Northwest's success was spearheaded by the efforts of PJ Thiesson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards, and Calan Denne, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Thiesson is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Kasat, who posted 11 points.

Lutheran Northwest was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Oakland Christian lost 88-63 to Southfield Christian on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while the Eagles are ranked 181st).

Oakland Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Lutheran Northwest, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Lutheran Northwest and Oakland Christian were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but Lutheran Northwest came up empty-handed after a 40-39 loss.
