Football Game Preview: Claiborne Academy Rebels vs. Delta Academy Raiders

Two dominant signal callers in Kyler Monk and Bradley Smith are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Claiborne Academy Rebels will face off against the Delta Academy Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Claiborne Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: River Oaks, who was ranked first at the time (Claiborne Academy was ranked sixth). The Rebels took a blow against the Mustangs on Thursday, falling 68-28. The Rebels have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Claiborne Academy might have lost, but man, Nate Smith was a machine: he picked up 136 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Smith showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 58 yards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delta Academy). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 68-14 victory over North Sunflower Academy. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Claiborne Academy better focus on containing Bailey Seymore and Chaderious Boclair as the pair were huge in Delta Academy's win. Seymore gained 182 total yards and two touchdowns, while Boclair rushed for 148 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Seymore a new career-high in rushing yards (143).

Claiborne Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Delta Academy, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-8.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Claiborne Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 193.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Delta Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 222.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
