Softball Game Preview: Lonoke Jackrabbits vs. Forrest City Mustangs

For the second straight game, Lonoke will face off against Forrest City. The Jackrabbits will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lonoke is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

Lonoke's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Forrest City with a sharp 17-0 victory. The Jackrabbits haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Kylee Bell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bell was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Lonoke let Shaniya Jackson and Coraline Spires run wild. Jackson got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Spires went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Spires a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kirsten Holt, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Lonoke hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Forrest City is on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Lonoke, their record is now 16-5.
