Football Game Preview: Bixby Spartans vs. Norman Tigers

The Bixby Spartans will venture away from home to take on the Norman Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bixby will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Bixby against Deer Creek as the team secured a 79-15 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight games by 28 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bixby to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carson Kirby, who threw for 331 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 13.8 yards per attempt. That's the most passing yards Kirby has posted since back in October of 2024. Another back making a difference was Gabe Blankenship, who rushed for 50 yards and three touchdowns.

Bixby's run defense was locked in: Deer Creek could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Cord Nolan for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bixby didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.1.

Bixby's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up ten sacks. It was truly a group effort as Hector Garcia, Jack Gill, Vincent Incremona, and Dawson Madden picked up two apiece.

Meanwhile, Norman faced Mustang in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers lost 54-29 to the Broncos. The Tigers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Bixby's record now sits at 9-0. As for Norman, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Bixby came up short against Norman in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 31-20. Thankfully for the Spartans, Kam Donald (who rushed for 223 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
