Football Recap: Mineola Yellowjackets vs. Jefferson Bulldogs
Mineola and Jefferson squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Mineola had to settle for second. They lost 53-27 to the Jefferson Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 866th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 93rd).
Kipton Neighbors rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
Colton McMahon was his top target, picking up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Kamran Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jefferson, rushing for 269 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Williams has posted since back in October of 2023. Chris Love also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Mineola's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Jefferson, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
