Softball Recap: Lake Stevens Comes Up Short

Lake Stevens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Enumclaw Hornets.

Mara Sivley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Lake Stevens saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reese Breckenridge, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Lake Stevens' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Enumclaw, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Lake Stevens will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Ferndale at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Enumclaw, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-3 win against Gig Harbor on the 14th.
