Football Recap: Stanberry Bulldogs vs. King City Wildkats
Stanberry lost against King City back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Stanberry Bulldogs took a hard 48-32 fall against the King City Wildkats. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Stanberry still got an impressive performance from Colby McQueen, who threw for 137 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. McQueen also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making seven total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging an interception. Treston Williams handled things on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.
King City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Graham Medsker led the charge by rushing for 109 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance gave Medsker a new career-high in rushing yards. Landon Carlson was another key player, rushing for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Stanberry now has a losing record at 1-2. As for King City, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanberry will face off against Pattonsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for King City, they will head out to square off against Princeton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
