Oak Grove is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Thursday. They came up short against Silver Creek, falling 34-13. The contest was a 13-13 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Oak Grove's loss came about despite a quality game from Brandon Stewart, who picked up 102 receiving yards and one touchdown. That receiving touchdown marked the first that Stewart has hauled in this season.

Meanwhile, Pioneer didn't have too much trouble with Overfelt on Thursday as they won 21-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Pioneer didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Christensen and Adrian Ochoa. Pioneer got some further help from Juan Jose Garcia: he picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles.

Pioneer now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Oak Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
