Basketball Game Preview: Eau Gallie Commodores vs. Deltona Wolves

After both having extra time off, the Eau Gallie Commodores and the Deltona Wolves will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, Eau Gallie came up short against Rockledge and fell 56-48. While losing is never fun, the Commodores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while the Raiders are ranked 204th).

Despite the defeat, Eau Gallie had strong showings from Quentin Hardin, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points, and Isaiah Cuff, who posted 11 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Quint, who earned six points.

Meanwhile, Deltona was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 78-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Smyrna Beach. The contest was a 35-35 toss-up at halftime, but the Wolves couldn't quite close it out.

Deltona's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Eau Gallie, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Eau Gallie strolled past Deltona in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 by a score of 75-61. Does Eau Gallie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Deltona turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
