Softball Recap: Palos Verdes Takes a Loss

Palos Verdes dropped their record down to 18-7 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits, falling 11-5. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Sea Kings, who until this match were averaging 2.8 runs allowed.

Adela Randazzo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Sophie Hasegawa was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Long Beach Poly, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5. The result was nothing new for the Jackrabbits, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Long Beach Poly's side, Tegan Breaux spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Long Beach Poly got a massive performance out of Ki'Ele Ho-Ching, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Ho-Ching has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Persja Lam Sam, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Coming up, Palos Verdes will host Peninsula at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Long Beach Poly, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against Carson on the 3rd.
