Softball Game Preview: Liberty Lancers vs. Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans

The Liberty Lancers will take on the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Liberty is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Rampart 24-14 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.

Charlotte Riffle and Selah Joiner did most of the damage at the plate: Riffle fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5, while Joiner went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, three doubles, and three RBI. That's the most hits Riffle has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Grace Joiner, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .558. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Fountain-Fort Carson was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They lost 12-1 to Pueblo West. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Cyclones: they've now lost six in a row.

Danielle Cooley was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
