Preview: Vermilion Sailors vs. Norwalk Truckers
Vermilion is 1-9 against Norwalk since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Vermilion Sailors on the road again and play against the Norwalk Truckers at 7:15 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Vermilion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Vermilion suffered their biggest defeat since December 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 69-46 loss at the hands of Brookside. Vermilion was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.
The losing side was boosted by AJ Gerber, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Cooper, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Norwalk pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sandusky. While losing is never fun, Norwalk can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Sandusky is ranked 28th).
Vermilion dropped their record down to 4-9 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Norwalk, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
Vermilion couldn't quite finish off Norwalk in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 49-46. Can Vermilion avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
