Basketball Recap: Pensacola Comes Up Short

Pensacola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Fort Walton Beach Vikings 64-24. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

Pensacola's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sharonne Davis, who posted six points. Davis is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarcuz Fountain, who scored six points and six assists.

Pensacola's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Fort Walton Beach, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Pensacola didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-47 defeat against Gulf Breeze on the 10th. As for Fort Walton Beach, they will be playing at home against Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Walton Beach knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Bay likes a good challenge.
