Buckeye Valley had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 56-21 victory over the Columbus Academy Vikings. The Barons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Ella Hazelrigg was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. What's more, she also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was MJ Cress, who went 5 for 6 en route to 10 points.

Buckeye Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Columbus Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Morgan Spalding posted eight points. Spalding also posted a block, marking her first of the season.

Buckeye Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for Columbus Academy, they moved to 7-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Buckeye Valley will face off against Franklin Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Buckeye Valley is facing Franklin Heights at the right time seeing as Franklin Heights is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Columbus Academy, they will challenge Worthington Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
