Basketball Recap: Berthoud Falls Despite Big Games from Sofia Sigg and Avery Pfohl

If Berthoud was feeling good fresh off their 76-26 takedown of Wellington last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Berthoud Spartans took a 44-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northridge Grizzlies on Friday. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Avery Pfohl and Sofia Sigg certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Pfohl posted 14 points along with seven boards and six steals, while Sigg earned nine points and five steals.

It was another big night for Sophia Carbajal, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds for Northridge. Carbajal has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last 17 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bailey McGeen, who had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Berthoud's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Northridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
