Basketball Recap: Carencro Comes Up Short

Carencro's tournament run continued when they took on Fort Bend Hightower on Saturday. The Carencro Bears fell 56-47 to the Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bears came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 103rd in Louisiana, while the Hurricanes are ranked 266th in Texas).

This is the second loss in a row for Carencro and nudges their season record down to 4-5. As for Fort Bend Hightower, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.

Carencro will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Teurlings Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 13, 2025. Fort Bend Hightower and Friendswood will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Bend Hightower has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 174 points over their last three matchups.
