Baseball Game Preview: Breck Mustangs vs. St. Agnes Aggies

The Breck Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the St. Agnes Aggies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Breck will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Breck is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mounds Park Academy with a sharp 15-5 victory on Friday. The Mustangs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2025 (when they won 14-3).

Breck got a great performance from Dylan Montgomery Baker as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Schellhas, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jasper Thompson was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Breck always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, St. Agnes came up short against Heritage Christian on Thursday and fell 11-7.

St. Agnes' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Breck, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Breck came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Agnes when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
